Ludlow CC Code of Conduct


1. INTRODUCTION


Our club is committed to providing a safe, supportive and enjoyable environment for all members to develop their cycling skills and passion for the sport. This code of conduct outlines the behaviour and responsibilities we expect from our members to ensure everyone has a positive experience.


2. FOR MEMBERS


2.1. Rider Safety

  • Follow ride leaders’ instructions at all times. This is for your safety and that of your fellow riders.
  • Protective kit must be worn during all club activities, including a properly fitted helmet that meets current safety standards, cycling gloves or mitts if appropriate, weather-appropriate clothing and high-visibility clothing/accessories for road riding. Also ensure you have enough food and drink for the duration of the ride.


2.2. Rider Conduct

  • Respect fellow members, riders, ride leaders and officials, regardless of ability, gender or culture.
  • Listen carefully to instructions and follow instructions given by ride leaders at all times. This is for your benefit and that of other riders.
  • We encourage positive communication and support among all members. Bullying, physically threatening behaviour, verbal abuse or excessive/offensive swearing will not be tolerated on or off the bike.


2.3 Follow event regulations and behave responsibly when representing the club. 


2.4. Obey the Highway Code when riding on public roads.


 2.5. Treat others with respect, kindness and fairness, as you would expect to be treated yourself.


Please report any safety issues or breaches of the code of conduct to a ride leader or club committee member.


3. SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES


3.1. Riders aged eleven and under must have a parent,carer or responsible adult physically on-site. For riders over 12, supervision is recommended. If youth riders are unaccompanied, parents/carers must be contactable and provide a backup contact if unavailable.


3.2. Inform a club welfare officer of any medical conditions or updates.


3.3. Keep emergency contact details up to date.


3.4. Ensure bikes are safe to ride before every session, ride or event by checking.

 

4. PHOTOGRAPHY AND SOCIAL MEDIA


4.1. The club may occasionally take photos or videos for training purposes, promotional materials or social media. Annual consent will be requested.


4.2. Do not take photographs or videos of any children other than your own without explicit permission from their parents/carers.


5. REPORTING CONCERNS


5.1. If you have concerns about safety, behaviour, welfare or apparent breaches of this code: For immediate safety concerns speak to a ride leader in the first instance (unless the complaint is about them, in which case report to a committee member as soon as practicable). For all other concerns, contact the club’s safeguarding and conduct officer in the first instance. All concerns will be treated confidentially.


5.2. As a Ludlow CC member, you agree to uphold this code of conduct when participating in club activities, representing the club or wearing the club kit. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action which may include verbal warnings, temporary suspension from activities and in serious cases being asked to leave the club.
